Swimming in Alpe d'Huez

Swimming is a great after skiing activity for all the family!

The heated Outdoor Swimming Pool in Alpe D'Huez is looking very inviting at the minute surrounded by snow!! Lots of fun to be had out there swimming with the family whilst soaking in the surrounding views of the snow covered mountains. Great for having a lot of well deserved fun as a family after your day on the mountain and your children's fun and active day out in the snow with their Snow Angel Nannies.

The cost of this is Free if you have a ski plus or premium pass otherwise the prices are 8 euros for adults and 5 euros for children under 13.

Although a word of warning before you go no shorts can me worn only swimming trunks!

The pool is open daily from 10am until 8pm with the last admission being at 7.30pm. Well worth a visit!!

Sledging in Alpe d'Huez

What a fab review from a Snow Angel Nanny!

The sledging over here in Alpe D'Huez is well organised and safety is an important issue so why not enjoy a day or an evening sledging with the family for a guaranteed fun filled time.

The resort has 2 sledging areas one being under the Grande Rousses DMC Gondola lift open to all. This is a marked trail which you have to access via the gondola lift, so only open during the day times. It is a marked trail designed for FUN. Access is free with a ski plus pass, without a ski pass the cost is 6.50 euros

The other run is for night sledging which you will find on the Butte de l'eclose slope which is on the piste which runs behind the Palais de Sports. This is a fun illuminated area which is great for families alike. This is open every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5.30pm until 8pmand again is free with ski passes otherwise the cost is 1.50 euro for one trip or 5 euros for unlimited fun!

Only sledges with braking and steering systems are allowed on any of the runs. And for the younger ones helmets are mandatory. But i am sure it is a added bonus to your holiday to include some fun with the children and adults of course!!

Oz a village in the Alpe d'Huez ski area!

The snow angle nannies have been busy in Alpe d’ Huez visiting the village Oz.

We set of in the morning to catch the bucket lift that opens at 8:30 situated behind the tourist office.

We then walked across to the bubble lift to get to the Oz lift that was across from the second stop on the bubble lift and took you into Oz.

We arrived at Oz by 9:20.

When we arrived in Oz we had discovered a beautiful small French village set in the middle of the mountain.

We stopped for a hot chocolate in one of the cafes and watched everyone ski past through the village to get to the slopes.

The children in resort looked like they were having lots of fun on the sledges due to the amount of snow that was everywhere.

Walking around Oz the views were stunning.

There was an ice skating rink and swimming pool with a small selection of restaurants, cafes and shops.

Oz is a small village with pretty scenery giving a peaceful and calming atmosphere.

Alpe d'Huez through a nannies eyes!

Alpe D'Huez is a lively family resort with lots to do for all ages. There are many family activities available.

Free activities included when using your ski plus pass you can use the outdoor swimming pool, play table tennis in the Palais de Sports centre.

Also free is the sledging areas which are located in Les Bergers and under the Grande Rousses DMC Gondola lift during the daytimes. As well as night sledging on the Butte de l'Eclose slope on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5pm. Without a ski plus pass these activities are chargable.

If you fancy taking the family Ice skating the admission is 6euro for adults and 3euro per child(under 13) skate hire is an extra 4 euro.The ice skating rink is open from 11.30am - 11pm. The Ice rink shuts early if hosting other events such as ice hockey matches and ice karting.

Ice karting takes place on a monday from 7.30pm and a thursday from 7pm both nights until midnight.

The swimming pools without a ski plus pass are charged at 8 euro per adult and 5 euro per child under 13 years. The outdoor pool is open 10am - 8pm and the indoor pool is open 10 - 8pm. No swimming shorts are allowed all males must wear swimming trunks ( which are available to hire if you really want to swim)

Climbing walls for the daredevils among you all from 6 yrs old upwards can be found in the Palais de Sports centre. This activity takes place at many different times during the week. More information can be found in the centre itself as times change frequently during the season. There is also a charge for this.

The Ice Caves is another favourite with families here in resort. Each year it is based on a different theme! The ice cave was dug into the snow by two high mountain guides. The ice caves are situated at 2.700 m and are accessible via the Grandes Rousses DMC lift. The prices are adults 4.50 euros and child 3.50 euros. Access to both 2700 plus admission to ice caves if you don't have a ski pass is adults 15 euro and child 9.50 euro.

Husky Dog Rides are a great experience when visiting the Alps. They are available for both 30 min or 1 hr session.

The prices are adults 32 euros or 55 euros for 1 hr. Children(under 12) 22 euros or 40 euros for 1 hr. Booking is recommended for this at least 48hrs in advance to ensure availability

The Cinema over here in Alpe D'Huez shows some English films in the Cinema Le Signal which is near the old town down from the Tourist information centre.

There are a lot of restaurants which are family friendly. A few to name are Pinocchios, La Taverne, Au Trappeur.

Most bars will accept children especially during apres ski hours.

Ice Skating Review Alpe d'Huez

The public Open air Ice Skating Rink otherwise known as the Patinoire over here in Alpe D'Huez is home to the Alpe D'huez ice hockey team Les Yetis which means there is regular ice hockey matches taking place on the rink, usually a good night out if you fancy watching one of the matches.

The Ice Rink is open daily from 11.30am until 11pm except when hosting events and lessons!

Entry is FREE with a Ski Plus pass but skate hire is extra. Lots of good fun to be had with the family here.

Prices for admission without a ski plus pass are adults - 6 euros. Admission for children under 13 is 3 euros. Skate hire is an extra 4 euros per person on top of admission prices!

The ice rink is also used for other activities including ice karting, Curling and figure skating lessons.

I am sure it will be lots of fun for a family adults and children alike to enjoy a bit of what the ice rink has to offer.

Review on PINOCCIOS in Alpe d'Huez!

If your looking for the finest pizzeria in the alps, then head down to Pinoccio's in Alpe D'Huez!. It's a small family run restaurant, with a great child friendly ambiance!. It's small and cosy, but has lots of character, with a slightly larger room upstairs for bigger parties!.

The food is faultless, and has an exciting menu to choose from, from french cuisine to fine Italian dishes, they do offer smaller portions for children, and can adapt certain dishes for your personal preference. The seating is nicely arranged, where you can watch the chefs hard at work whilst you enjoy some exquisite French wine!.
The staff are friendly, helpful and Also speak good English, if you are struggling with the language barrier!!.

Price wise, it was all pretty reasonable, and the service was fab!. On the whole my experience was rather pleasant, and I would highly recommend trying it out, for a mid-week dinner or two!!.

Casa Nostra - Les Deux Alpes

The atmosphere in casa nostra restaurant was very relaxing and welcoming.

The staff were very friendly and helpful when explaining the French menu, and joined us for a drink at the end of the meal.

The food was very nice and everyone enjoyed their meals with good size portions.

I ordered a lasagne and salad and could not fault the food that was very tasty.

Overall the restaurant was central, with a good friendly atmosphere providing good quality food, with good size portions. The restaurant also was very clean and attractive environment.

It is snowing across the alps!!!! Les Deux Alpes is open, Alpe d'Huez will open on Thursday, Meribel, Courchevel, La Tania are also getting snow and it is dumping in Tignes!!!!!

Hello, Im Gaynor, and I am 21 years of age and come from sunny South Shields near Newcastle. I am kind and considerate and I also believe myself to be a very reliable and trustworthy young lady. I hope I can be a big help in providing childcare services for Snow Angel Nannies whilst your away enjoying the beautiful scenes in France. This is my first season away in the Alps and I’m looking forward too spending it with lots of confidence in looking after your families and making sure they are having an amazing time while you are enjoying your holiday and the spectacular scenes at the same time.

I absolutely love working with children doing in and outdoor activities and encouraging them as much as possible to join in all the ‘fun’ we’ll be having. I have lots of experience in working with children from a very small age by working in a Creche, to working in a Primary School and also being the leader of a Children’s After School Club and Holiday Club. I also have 2 nieces and 3 nephews which keep me constantly on my toes.

I can assure all parents that my main priorities will be that I will provide a safe environment for their children, ensure that all equipment needed will be safe and age appropriate, making sure they are happy at all times and well looked after and also so they are having lots and lots of FUN! Hopefully this will encourage you as a parent too have a worry-free, relaxed and much enjoyable holiday! I look forward in meeting you.
